Challenge 11

My PLN is quite small but I do go to pinterest a lot for ideas on crafting for the teens and my adult crafting class.   I also search facebook pages that have crochet patterns available. My favorite facebook page is Crocheting for Children.  The patterns are easy and my class loves them.

YALSA has been recommended to me, however I have not been to the site yet.

Lesson 10 Challenge

In order for the patron to get to McDonalds for a job interview, they would have to take bus #524.  It would take 14 minutes to get there and the bus passes every 30 minutes.

Lesson 8 Challenge

Option 1: situation 1

The benefit of an online meeting is that you save on gas and time.  This is also a good way to meet with someone is in another town or state, cannot leave their location due to shortness of staff or mobility is not available.  Would definitely use again when needed.

I did have a bit of trouble trying to use skype but that’s just user error.  I’m sure once I put it to use more, it will get easier.

Skype is good to use for conversing with babysitters, children in afterschool activities, relatives far away, etc.

Some meetings in person are necessary if you need to get documents from that person or give hands on training.  Other than that, conversing via skype or other programs, is a benefit.

Lesson 8 Part 2 Challenge

I chose Lisa Gardner’s “The Third Victim”.   I found it easy to search for this audio book on OneClickdigital. However, i did not find this title on overdrive eaudio.

  • Formats the book is available in – (4) kindle book, overdrive read, adobe epub ebook, and adobe pdf ebook
  • How many copies the library owns – 17
  • How many copies are available – 16

Lesson 6 challenge

I have used novelist many times before.  Not only for patrons but for myself.  Many times it has been to find out if a certain book is part of a series or a solo read.

Lesson 5 challenge

Learning Express Library is a great source if you need help with job searching preparation, school work practice, GED prep and a few other areas.

Lesson 2 challenge

A customer shows you a “too good to be true” email about getting free money from Nigeria, and asks you to help them seal the deal with their banking information.

First I would ask them if they know the person sending the email.  If they do not, I would then take a look at the email address and see if it looks legit.  If it looks fishy and they do not know the person, I would suggest to them that they not go any further with the transaction and delete the email.

I would also let them know that some emails like that contain viruses so they should be very cautious when opening them up.  If by chance they do know the person sending the email, i would suggest they contact that person by phone or text and find out if in so, they were the actual senders.
